Decompression Traction Therapy is a viable Alternative and has become a standard of care in many cases requiring Spinal Surgery
You do not have to live in debilitating pain. Whether you have neck or lower back pain, radiating upper or lower extremity symptoms related to injured or degeneratively damaged discs, Decompression Traction Therapy may be for you.
This gentle, non-surgical therapy may provide long lasting neck, lower back, and/or extremity pain relief. This is state-of-the-art therapy for neck and back pain relief, bulging or degenerative disc syndromes. The gentle distractive forces of the Decompression Traction Therapy create negative disc pressure short-term to create a decompression of the spine, allowing pain relief and the initiation of osmotic healing. The unloading due to distraction and proper traction positioning increases blood flow and osmotic nutrient exchange to the injured area. You’ll experience several cycles of stretch and relaxation, which graduates to a peak over a period of several minutes.
The Doctor has personally visited the manufacturer and offered input for his own personally constructed Traction table.
Therapy sessions typically last 15 to 20 minutes. A schedule of treatments will be prescribed and administered once the patient is assessed and it is determined that he or she is a candidate for this type of corrective care. X-rays and/or MRI may be necessary and can be ordered by the Doctor for assessment of their condition. Most decompression traction patients are released from treatment after 4 to 8 weeks of care.
A complete program targeting the function of the stabilization muscles is a vital part of Decompression Traction Therapy. McKenzie protocol, strength and adjunctive therapies such as muscle stimulation, ultrasound, laser, and cold therapy can assist in rehabilitation of these structures. Our goal is to not only relieve pain, but help heal the disc. Strengthening after the Traction Therapy, though not insisted upon, is offered to enhance muscular control and support of the neck and back. The Clinic has a full weight training facility with gym equipment.
Regular prescribed home McKenzie exercise, adherance to recommended nutritional protocol, and periodic visits, when necessary, will help in maintaining your spinal health and reduce the probability of reoccurence. Clinical results of this type of therapy have been effective for the patients treated and most all patients find long-term relief or effective management of their pain, when they complete the entire program of treatments utilizing the Spinal Decompression Traction Therapy.
